Phew! What a wonderful 48 hours it has been! We finally had a moment to sit down and record some of our adventures, and we look forward to sharing more!
We left Chicago at noon last Friday and landed safely in Scotland at 11am on Saturday. Needless to say, jet lag took its toll our first day in. Once we landed in Scotland, we picked up our car and headed off on our adventure. Friendly reminder: our friends in the UK drive on the opposite side of the road, so Joshua only had to do a small amount of side-seat white-knuckle driving as Chris plowed through fields of innocent sheep.
To Joshua's favor, he's been wanting a new wool coat.
Kidding aside, we had some practice of left-side-of-the-road driving during our engagement session in Ireland a few years ago. Just like riding a bike, right Chris?
The hour and 45 minute trip to our first stop, Ballater, was simply dreamy. Our jet lag was soon energized with a big, caffeinated cup of countryside beauty. From rolling fields of sheep, towering pine forests, and quiet remnants of vacant castles to bustling little towns bursting with locals, it was an eye-catching road adventure to our hotel.

We stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation at Craigendarroch. We were greeted by the most beautiful room with cozy fireplace, the biggest sun-drenched windows overlooking the highlands, and most importantly to these weary travelers, a big comfy bed!
After checking in, we spent the afternoon exploring the local
neighborhood and sinking in to our quaint surroundings. One of our first stops was lunch! We stopped into the cutest cafe that was formerly a historic church. We both grabbed sandwiches and "crisps", then warmed up the fall scene with a warm cup of tea.

Now, it's time for feet up!!
Stay tuned as we shared our first official day exploring the world around us. In the meantime, we're prepping for our BIG day tomorrow as we officially "tie the knot".
We wish you were here with us and we look forward to celebrating soon.
XOXO,
Joshua and Chris
